Joyce Roberson

Joycc Roberson, 87, of Amherst went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. She was born on December 24, 1934 in Lamb County, to Odell Cecil Kittrell and Vasca Marie (Cates) Kittrell.

Joyce was a proud SpringlakeEarth alumni, and after graduation she attended Draughons Business College, majoring in Business. She married Buddy Roberson on October 5, 1957 in Hart, Texas. Together the couple planted their roots in the Sandhills, raising their three kids there and ranching. Family was the most important thing to Joyce, and she continued to cook for her family every Sunday after church. She loved being a "Grandma" to her grandchildren, and was their biggest cheerleader at their games, band events and anything they were involved in. Joyce was a hard worker, and worked many places in Lamb County as an office secretary. She was a community socialite, volunteered her time to help organize numerous church and community events. She was active member at Rocky Ford Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and served as the church Secretary. She devoted her life to her fami ly and Christianity, her love for the Lord was great.

She is survived by a daughter, Tanya Ritchie and husband, Mike of Springlake; two sons, Guyle Roberson and wife, Sherri of Rocky Ford community and Randy Roberson and wife, Rebecca of Littlefield; seven grandchildren, Megan Hunton and husband, Sean of Amarillo, Tanoah Ritchie and fiancee, OJ of San Angelo, Randi Brooke Sheffy and husband, Sid ofDimmitt, Remington Roberson and wife, Hannah of Littlefield, Ariel Welch and husband, Duncan of Lubbock, Shane Roberson of Austin, and Rachel Roberson of San Angelo; one great grandchild, Zoey Hunton; a sister, Peggy Davis of Anton; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Roberson on January 14, 1994; her parents; and two brothers, Johnny Kittrell and Jerry Kittrell.

Funeral Services to celebrate Joyce's life were held at 11 a.m. , Monday, January 10, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Amherst, Texas with Pastor Glen Morton officiating. Interment followed in Littlefield Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

Serving as pallbearers were Remmington Roberson, Shane Roberson, Duncan Welch, OJ Dismore, Sid Sheffy and Sean Hunton.
