Well, it is me again to keep you infirmed about what is going on at the Museum. Some good and some bad. It seems that mostly bad news. Murphy’s Law is alive and working.
We have lost three (3) wonderful friends of the Museum lately, and I’m really afraid to open the paper in case there are more. First was our wonderful Jim Jones, Chamber Director, and friend of the Museum who assisted us a lot when we had functions by advertising them along with the Chamber News Plus, attending all the functions. Then, our former President for years Jan McCrary lost her husband. T.L. Garret. T.L. had really helped around the Museum after he and Jan married, working in the yard with Pat Robbins, then helping out in the kitchen doing any number of things that must be done during a function and putting in some great input during our business meetings. Then, I open the Leader-News and a wonderful patron, Ann Owens has passed away. Ann was always on call for the Museum until she sold her house and moved into an assisted living place in Lubbock, and she still supported us with her dues and more when needed. All of these wonderful people supported us in different ways, but meant so much to me. I will miss them greatly as I am sure so many of you will.
I know that Jayne Ann is as lost as Jan is, even though she and Jim were married for many years, and Jan only a few. Both had great years with wonderful men and we remember them with love. And Ann, such an asset to the City of Littlefield in days past, and to the First United Methodist Church. She will be sorely missed, and I only hope her family knows how much we thought of her.
Now to more Bad News, since it seems to be the only kind there is lately, The Wine Tasting is Cancelled. Sally, our favorite Vintner, is having health problems, that’s all I know, and cannot keep the schedule. Like I said, when I started this article, Murphy’s law is alive and well at the Museum.
Now for some good news.
You, the members of the Museum have been wonderful about sending your dues. Those of you who have responded, I salute. BUT, those of you who have not responded, please reconsider and send in those dues. I am trying, along with a few others, to keep the Museum open but without funds it simply cannot be done.
With this brace on my leg, it cannot be done to my satisfaction anyway, but with encouragement from Pat and Cheryl, we manage. I went to the doctor Tuesday, and he says, it is healing nicely, but the brace stays on for another 30 days. Let me tell you, it is a pain in the gazoo, so please DON’T fall and break anything. It is NOT fun.
Before my brain shuts down completely, CONGRATULATIONS to Danielle Zapata on being crowned ‘Homecoming Queen’ at the football game. And condolences to the players for the loss of the game. It will get better…
Keep well, and be Happy until next time. wgl
