The Anton Bulldogs’ varsity football team has their sights set on their season-opener against Silverton on Friday.
Head Coach Matthew Hoover talked about their takeaways from their two scrimmages, saying, “Our first scrimmage wasn’t as good as we would have liked, but we really came out against IRA and Nazareth and played exceptionally well on both sides of the ball.”
The Bulldogs host the Silverton Owls on Friday in their home-opener at Bulldog Stadium.
Coach Hoover talked about the match-up, saying, “I think some keys to offense for us are sustaining blocks a little longer and just getting the offense cleaned up a little bit more each day.”
He added, “Defensively, we just have to be the most physical team on the field at all times. If we can do that and fly around to the ball with four or five making a tackle we will be in good shape.”
The Bulldogs will take on the Owls on Friday at Bulldog Stadium to open the 2021 football season. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
