‘Taste of Whitharral’ to be served Aug. 28

The Whitharral Lions Club has announced it will be hosting its annual fund raiser, the “Taste of Whitharral”, next Saturday, Aug. 28, on the United Cotton Growers’ gin yard, east of the Whitharral Schools.

The annual event begins at 6 p.m. and will continue until the food is gone.

The price for a plate is $10, for all you can eat, and $5 for children under 12 years of age.

Some of the food being served includes brisket, fried turkey, shrimp boil, sandhill crane, fish, various wild game, fajitas, pork loin, chicken wings and an assortment of homemade desserts.

Volunteers will set up their trailers in a circle around the gin yard, and guests will go from vendor to vendor getting a sampling of different fresh-cooked staples and delicacies. Guests will dine under a big tent set up in the center of the circle.

Proceeds from the annual event go to benefit the Whitharral Lions Club’s activities and charities.
