Work is finally getting started on the latest Downtown Littlefield Revitalization program.
The winning bidder was AAJ Concrete from Plainview.
The $350,000 project gives a facelift to the tired open space areas downtown while retaining some of the unique 60+ year-old features, like the Zig-zag awnings, planters and the circle seating.
The work crews will reinstall some of the old non-functional gas lights and add some new vintage solar lighting.
According to City Manager Mitch Grant, “The project will be challenging, but the contractor has experience in State-Funded projects.”
Later, the improvements will get started between the Police Department and the Library, where that section of street will become a turn around and a small park area.
Lastly, the intersections at Fifth and Sixth Streets and LFD will be removed to improve some of the abrupt changes in concrete levels
