This is just an old saying but what we find is that there is a lot of truth to it if it is the Lord that we are waiting on.
But what happens? Many of us become so impatient that we don’t want to wait! Instead, we get a bright idea and what do we do? We tell God to move out the way because He’s holding up the line and we don’t have time to wait. Only to find ourselves Saying - “I knew I should have waited.” And we do it time and time again don’t we?
It always Amazes me that God has to literally command His children to BE STILL! Why is this? Well because His children just can’t seem to sit still during their waiting season. Many people can’t even enjoy the blessing of the season that they’re in right now, simply because they’re too busy waiting for the next season of life. (Psalm 46:10) says “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
King David is a great example of what it means to wait on the Lord. David waited to be King at the appointed time (Psalm 40:1) says - “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry”.
In (1 Samuel 16:12-13) It was revealed to Samuel that David would become God’s anointed king, but David didn’t become king right away. There was a waiting season. He eventually became prominent in Israel and Saul became very envious, and so set out to destroy David.
Even though David was relentlessly pursued by Saul, David was faithful to God and he “waited” to be made king.
On one occasion, David had the opportunity to kill Saul. And even then, David honored Saul as God’s appointed king and spared his life. After this encounter, Saul made another attempt to kill David, and David had the opportunity to kill Saul again, but once again David spared Saul’s life! Wow, I think by now many of us if we were honest, would have chosen different.
David eventually sat on his throne, but the important thing to see here is that he first had to overcome and endure many obstacles in the middle of the “Waiting Season” before the promise was realized.
What this means for you and me, is that many times in life you may want to give up because your problems seem too big or too much to bear. Your “waiting season” may not be fun, because like David, you may feel like you can’t win for losing, but you see, during the waiting season David kept his eyes on God even in the midst of trials. The resolution was that his “problems” became his “promotion”!!!! Glory to God! Hallelujah
You see, the times you think you’re running away from your worldly problems, you’re actually turning away your kingdom promotions!!!
I know some of you been asking God for some kind of breakthrough in your life, and all you been getting is trial after trial, valley after valley, mountain after mountain And you’ve been getting so tired that you’re ready to throw in the towel and give up because you’re “tired of waiting,” but what I want you to realize is that the breakthrough that you’re waiting for just might be on the other side of the mountains and walls of life called trials.
Have you ever wondered why it’s called “BREAKTHROUGH”?,,, because we must “BREAK” “THROUGH” these mountains and walls called trials! Amen HALLELUJAH
And how do we break through these walls and mountains?? By waiting. And not just waiting in vain. But waiting on the Lord!!
You may say “well I’m not just gonna sit and wait” Why not?? David did, and what was the outcome of David waiting on God?? He became King! He was successful, God used him, and granted him favor with all his people!!!
Well I want to encourage you that GOD is AT WORK IN YOUR WAITING! You might not see any changes in these times of waiting, especially through hard times, and periods of personal growth, but my hope, is that today you will know that there is a plan and a purpose for you in the WAITING. Amen!
With love, your brother in Christ,
