James William ‘JW’ Calaway, 84, of Duncan, OK passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his home in Duncan.
Service was Monday morning, April 12, 2021 in the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ with Leonard Keele officiating. Interment was Tuesday, morning, April 13, 2021 in the Coahoma Cemetery in Coahoma, TX.
JW was born Feb. 13, 1937 in Big Spring, TX the son of Claud W. and Myrtle (Joiner) Calaway. He graduated from high school in Artesia, NM in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1966 serving a year of this in Thule, Greenland. He and Louise Hanna were married in Artesia, NM on Aug. 29, 1964 and were married nearly 57 years. He retired from Halliburton Energy Services in 1992 where he worked as a Mechanic and Safety Instructor. He was a member of the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ, enjoyed genealogy, reading, watching sports and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Louise of the home in Duncan, OK; children Shanna Miles and husband, Mark of Littlefield, TX, Valerie Steeley and husband, Derek of Tulsa, OK and Brian Calaway and wife, Kimberly of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Dylan Steeley, Paige Steeley, Cole Steeley, Bryson Calaway, Karson Calaway, James Dalton Calaway and wife, Taya, Chris Miles and wife, Aasta, Erin Miles, Emily Miles and Jenna Miles; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Aaliyah Miles and bonus grandchildren Kamryn Lucas, Casen Lucas and Keatyn Smith.
