The Lamb County Leader-News’ Big Bracket Challenge has come and gone in the blink of an eye.
This year’s big winner is Lauren Petty, of Shallowater, who finished with 133 points, edging out second-place finisher Brendon Carter, of Oklahoma City, OK, who finished with 131 points.
In the Final Four, which took place last Saturday, April 3 rd , #11 seed UCLA nearly pulled off a stunner in overtime over Gonzaga, but the #1 seeded Zags prevailed, 93-90, on a last second shot. On the other side of the bracket, #1 seed Baylor rolled over #2 Houston, 78-59.
The Championship took place on Monday, April 5 th , with the Bears winning the program’s first basketball championship over then-undefeated, Gonzaga, 86-70.
The final standings are as follows:
Larry Ashley finished with 128 points, while Ben Eastepp tallied 125 points and Brandi Conkin finished with 115 points. Christi Pointer tallied 108 points, while Danny Davis notched 106 points and Hannah Conkin and Zeb Petty each finished with 102 points.
Robin Cooper finished with 101 points, while Juan Hernandez and Keith Logan each finished with 93 points and Ronnie Martin tallied 88 points. Janet Conkin tallied 82 points, while Chris Brown finished with 79 points and Ivan Estrada tallied 68 points. Jeremy Martinez finished with 65 points, while Teresa Carter finished with 64 points and Richard Carter tallied 57 points.
Brian Conkin had 56 points, while Jaron Cabello finished with 55 points, Lonnie Neinast finished with 54 points, Amber Martinez finished with 43 points and Brett Neinast finished with 32 points.
