Superintendent-elect Mike Read presented a resolution regarding the wearing of masks.

“This resolution is from T.A.R.S. (Texas Association of Rural Schools). With this resolution you’re realeasing teachers and students from the State mandate requiring the wearing of masks at schools, subject to the following restrictions: social distancing will remain in place at school, mask wearing is encouraged at school events where large number of community members gather together. Mask wearing will remain a personal choice, meaning it will become optional.”

Superintendent Robert Dillard added, “The last part of this resolution is that so we don’t have to meet again if we have a big flair up and we want to go back to the same thing that we had in place at the beginning of school, we can make an administrative call on that and we don’t have to have another one of these called meetings to do it.”

Gary Birkelbach made a motion to approve the resolution and it was seconded by Pat Demel. The motion carried.

The Board went into executive session at 12:06 p.m. to discuss Personnel matters and they reconveined at 12:49 p.m.

No action was taken and the meeting was adjourned at 12:49 p.m.
