The Olton Mustang’s varsity basketball team downed the Vega Longhorns on Tuesday, 68-36, to stay unbeaten in district play.
With the win, the Mustangs improve to 20-1 overall, 5-0 in district play.
In the first quarter, junior, Chris Urbina, poured in seven points to help the Mustangs jump out to a, 15-12, lead heading into quarter number two. The Mustangs edged out the Longhorns, 14-13, in the second frame to take a, 29-25, lead into the locker room at halftime
Olton’s offense came alive in the third quarter, as both Urbina and senior, JackAllcorn, each knocked down a pair of threes and senior, Israel Santillan, poured in eight points, to extend their lead out to, 56-32, heading into the final quarter of play.
The Mustangs tallied 11 points in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 68-36.
Urbina led the Mustangs in scoring with 17 points and was joined in doube-figures scoring by Israel Santillan, who tallied 16 points and Allcorn, who finished with 10 points.
Joe Canchola tallied five points, while Andrew Martinez and Brennen Huguley each contributed four points and Ty Struve netted three points.
Jake Soliz, Aldo Vasquez, Bryson Ramage andAlex Santillan each finished with two points in the contest.
The Mustangs hosted Boys Ranch on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a home game against Farwell.
Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m.
