Wolverines handle Elk in first meeting, 63-27

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team throttled the Cotton Center Elk, 63-27, to improve to 9-3 overall, 6-0 in district play.

The Wolverines jumped out to a, 16-8, lead in the first quarter and added 16 points in the second quarter to take a, 32-12, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Wolverines opened the second half strong with a 21-point third quarter and netted 10 points in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 63-27.

Juniors, Evan DeLeon and Trace Goodman, led the team in scoring with 18 points apiece. Junior, Kaden Castillo, chipped in 10 points, while Alex Alvarez netted nine points and junior, Keshan Holmes, added six points. Senior, Daryl Castillo, chipped in two points in the contest.

The Wolverines were at home against Lazbuddie on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday against Hart.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
