    The 19th ranked Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team rang in the New Year on Jan. 2nd with a, 59-33, victory over Ralls at home.

    With the win, the Mustangs improved to 12-1 overall on the season.

    Olton jumped out to an eightpoint lead in the first quarter and outscored the Jackrabbits, 13-7, in the second frame to take a, 31-17, lead into the locker room at halftime.

    In the third quarter, the Mustangs outscored Ralls, 21-1, to stretch their lead to, 52-18, heading into the final quarter of play. In the final frame, Ralls outscored Olton, 15-7, as the Mustangs took the 59-33.

    Urbina led the team in scoring with 16 points, and he was joined in double-figures scoring by Israel Santillan, who finished with 13 points.

    Jack Allcorn and Brennen Huguley each finished with six points, while Bryson Ramage, Aldo Vasquez and Jake Soliz each tallied five points and Ty Struve finished with two points in the contest.

    The Mustangs were open Tuesday and will take on the Morton Indians on Friday in non-district play.

    Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
