Will I allow 2020 to make me or Shape me?...

Blessings my dear friends, I pray will find

When we read the word of God we find that there is a balance between the (past), (present), and (future). In (Revelation 1:8) Jesus said - “I am the Alpha and the Omega...who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

So we serve the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow! Our God is the God of the past, the present, and the future, and He has been at work in every generation. Amen

It’s important to look to backwards, it’s important to look at the now, and it’s important to look forward. In light of 2020, would you agree with me that it has been a trying and challenging year, to say the least?

Friends, we can find the beautiful balance between the (past), (present), & (future) in our lives as we get prepared to step out of 2020 and into 2021.

We first look to the (past), by stopping for a moment to reflect on this past year and the challenges, trials, and circumstances that we have all faced or continue to face to some degree or another. 2020 has had an effect on the entire nation in some shape or form. It’s in looking backwards where we stay humble and that we can learn valuable life lessons: It’s where we learn and evaluate what worked and what didn’t, it’s where we figure out what we should change or keep the same, it’s where we take inventory leaving the bad and taking the good .

Then we can focus on the (present) by looking at the now and thinking about our “God-given” choice to make a decision on how we (choose) to end this year .

Scripture says that Jesus has laid before you life and death, blessings and curses, but He wills that you choose life! Friends, I pray that you choose to become better.

(Deuteronomy 30:19) I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Will you leave 2020 empty handed by choosing to allow the circumstances to tear you down and keep you down? Or will you leave 2020 with a fight, demanding not to leave empty handed, by taking and learning from the past? By making your circumstances work for you instead of against you? So that you can gain and apply wisdom for (today) Amen!=%

It’s a not choice that someone can make for you, but one that you get to make for

In other words when we look at the (present) or the now, it’s where we decide whether we are gonna let the past circumstances affect our lives in a negative way, or instead grow and mature for the better of ourselves and for the of God. Amen!

And lastly, we look (forward) towards the future by keeping our eyes on Jesus Christ, the Author and finisher of our faith! Amen

Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14 “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

When we read the life of Job, we see a man who loved God, but in just a little time, he suffered so bad that he lost everything he had. He lost his wealth, his family, and his health, but one thing Job never lost was his faith! Scripture says in - (Job 2:3) Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.”

How have you stood through the trials of 2020 or how do you stand in the middle of those trials now? Do those around you notice that you are walking with God even though difficulties have come?

Friends, may the Lord be able to say the same of us today - “Have you considered My servant, that there is none like him on the earth?

Followers of Christ will go through suffering in life, but the important thing about suffering is not how big or small it is, but instead how we come through our trial on the other side.Amen! Friends be blessed as you learn from the (past), in order to apply to your life for (today), and to keep or focus on looking (forward) to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ!

With Love your brother in Christ,

Billy Montes
