After almost 25 years, Joe retired and they moved back to the South Plains to be near her parents. They lived in Shallowater, where both were substitute teachers. They lived in Shallowater for 13 years, then they moved to Grayson County to be near grandchildren.
Their son, Tim and wife, Elizabeth, have 3 children, twins Arya and Christopher, and little sister, Addy. Their daughter, Becky and husband Jeff, live in Florida. They have Lily who was born in March of 2020.
