Wolverines open district with win over Lazbuddie

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team opened district play last week with a, 69-11, victory over the Lazbuddie Longhorns.

With the win, the Wolverines improved to 3-3 overall, 1-0 in district play.

The Wolverines got out to a, 12-2, lead in the first quarter and poured in 21 points in the second frame to take a, 33-7, lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the third quarter, they added 20 points and they closed out the game with a 16-point fourth quar-ter to take the contest, 69-11.

Kaden Castillo led the team in scoring with a game-high 14 points and he was joined in double-figures scoring by Dereck Rosales, who netted 13 points and Trace Goodman, who added 11 points.

Jaramillo chipped in eight points, while Braxton Ethridge and Keshan Holmes each finished with six points and Evan DeLeon contributed five points. Timothy Tanaro tallied four points and Alex Alvarez finished with two points in the contest.
