The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team took down Sundown on Tuesday, 53-39, to improve to 7-1 overall on the year.
It was a time game early-on with the Mustangs clinging to a twopoint lead, 11-9, in the first quarter and just a four-point lead, 24-20, going into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, the Mustangs poured in 20 points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth quarter to pull away with the contest, 53-39, over the Roughnecks.
Senior, JackAllcorn led the team in scoring with 15 points and was joined in double-figures scoring by Chris Urbina, who netted 13 points.
Brennon Huguley and Alex Santillan each finished with seven points, while Jake Soliz tallied six points and Bryson Ramage and Andrew Martinez each finished with two points. Aldo Vasquez also had one point in the contest.
The Mustangs were at Plains on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Dec 29th against Tulia.
