The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team improved to 3-1 overall on Tuesday with a road victory over the Idalou Wildcats, 45-33.
Littlefield pulled ahead in the first quarter, behind seven points from senior, Chris Brown and five from senior, Tyree Jones to take a, 14-6, lead into quarter number two.
Both teams netted nine points in the second quarter, including senior, Jeremiah Salazar, going five-of-six from the free throw line for Littlefield, making the score, 23-15, heading into the locker room at halftime.
Jones netted eight points in the third quarter, as the Wildcats outscore Idalou, 22-16, in the second half to come away with the victory, 45-33.
Jones led the team in scoring with a game-high 19 points. He was joined in double-figures scoring by Salazar, who finished with 11 points.
Brown chipped in nine points, while junior, Jordan Trevino, and senior, Joseph Salinas, each finished with three points in the contest.
Littlefield host Abernathy on Friday and traveled to Dumas on Saturday to take on the Demons. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a road game against Floydada.
Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
