Bobby Cunningham brings home Week 10 Football Contest

The Lamb County Leader-News Football contest is through 10 weeks, with only two weeks remaining in the contest.

We had three contestants tie for the top spot this week at 15-5. They were Bobby Cunningham, Dewayne Hayes and Jan Smith.

The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of Palo Duro and Coronado, which was 76 points.

Bobby Cunningham was closest with a guess of 50 points to give him first place, while Hayes finished second with a guess of 48 points and Jan Smith finished third with a guess of 37 points.

In the high school ranks, Bushland held off Littlefield, 35-24, while Springlake-Earth rallied from being down 24 points to defeat Nazareth, 78-67, to earn the District title.

Olton took down West Texas, 48-42, while Anton ran away from Amherst, 78-54, to earn the District title, and Dalhart took down Muleshoe, 42-21.

Sundown shutout Tahoka, 53-0, and Idalou won after Reagan County had to forfeit the contest, giving all contestants a freebie.

Smyer took down 56-19, while Estacado defeated Levelland, 41-24, and Amarillo took down Monterey, 24-7.

In the college ranks, Notre Dame took care of business against Georgia Tech, 31-13, while Nevada downed UNLV, 37-19, and Cincinati throttled Memphis, 49-10.

Michigan State pulled out the upset over Michigan, 27-24, while West Virigina took down Kansas State for the upset, 37-10.

In the NFL, The Browns fell to the Raiders, 16-6, while the Bengals took down the Titans, 31-20, and the Vikings edged out the Packers, 28-22.

The Dolphins downed the Rams, 28-17, while the Steelers took down the rival Ravens, 28-24.

Those who finished 14-6 this week were, Ivan Estrada, Kay Cloninger, Tommy Cloninger and Mark Grace, while 13-7 finishers this week include, Devin Garcia, Junior Garcia, Larry Ashley, Marcus Garcia, Missy Cunningham, Nancy Smith, Oscar Sanchez and Robin Elliott.

Contestants who finished 12-8 this week were, James Hood, Jay Lee, Jimmy Davis Jr., Johnny Rosemond, Dicarlo Leal, Lonnie Neinast, Lyndel Evans and Stevy Smith. Brenda Herrell, David Neinast, Floyce Pierce, Jimmy Davis Sr., and Juanita Trevino each finished 11-9 this week, while Alma Castillo, Donna Neinast, Ed Dabrowski, JR Herrell, Martin Duran, Sam Castillo, Teresa Dabrowski and Terrill Moorhead each finished 10-10.

Devin Jones finished 9-11 this week, while Seneida Pratt finished 8-12.

In the overall standings, Lonnie Neinast remains in first place with 168 points, but his lead has been cut to just two points, as Tommy Cloninger is right on his trail with 166 points. David Neinast sits in third place with 162 points, while Mark Grace is in fourth with 161 points.

Kay Cloninger is in fifth place with 160 points, while Jan Smith and Lee are tied for sixth with 159 points. Estrada, Stevy Smith and JR Herrell are tied for seventh with 158 points, while Nancy Smith sits in eighth with 157 points.

Pierce is in ninth with 156 points and rounding out the top 10 is Hayes, who has 155 points.
