As Christians, how many times do we feel like we really don’t have what it takes to make much of a difference in the Kingdom of God?
We see other men and women of God on t.v. or Facebook with huge platforms throughout the world, reaching thousands for the Lord and making a big impact.
The Christian thing to do is to celebrate with our dear brothers and sisters from around the world in their work for the Lord, but the reality is that many times we can find ourselves comparing ourselves unhealthily to other people or other ministries, only to find ourselves discouraged with feelings of insignificance.
Friends, If you are not careful you can fall into the trap of thinking “I don’t have a big platform, so what difference can I make?”
I want to encourage you today by helping you understand why your platform is where you are at, and the little things matter more than you think! Simple actions that you take and little things you do can have a HUGE impact in the Kingdom of God. AMEN!
In (Luke 13:18-21) Jesus shares two little parables that show us the impact that little things treated properly can make – verse 18. Then He said, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.” 20 And again He said, “To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? 21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.”
What was Jesus saying?
Jesus was comparing these little things that seem so insignificant, to the kingdom of God.
Don’t ever underestimate the power of the little things!
There’s one familiar story in the Bible that comes to mind.
It’s found in - (John ch.6:1-14) After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples. Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do. Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
In this passage we find many truths, But the one thing that stands out to me the most, Is that amongst the multitude of people, there was an insignificant little boy that many people probably thought nothing of, much less have anything significant to offer.
The major truth we see here is that Jesus took what little amount the boy he had to offer and He multiplied it!!!
Even when we feel that we don’t have much to offer to make a Kingdom difference, It’s not about how much we have to offer, But rather, taking what little we have in our own ability and putting it in the hands of the one who can make the Kingdom difference!
The little you have may be a kind gesture towards someone, may be a little encouraging word, may be a little help towards someone in need, may be a little serving, may be a little giving in the offering, or how about this - maybe giving someone a little invite to church!
You never know, that small and insignificant person you invite to church may be the next Billy Graham!!! Just give to God what little it takes and watch the Kingdom difference He makes!
With Love,
Billy Montes
