On Wednesday, Aug. 26th at 2:09 p.m. a two vehicle collision on Interstate 27 near mile marker 44 resulted in the death of a 16-year old male from Hale Center. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 20 23 D odge Ram pickup, towing a trailer, was traveling northbound on I-27 in the left lane. A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was also traveling northbound on I-27 in the left lane, approaching the Dodge Ram and the trailer from the rear.
The Chevrolet Silverado collided with the rear of the towed trailer.
The d river of the Chevrolet Silverado was transported to Covenant Health Hospital-Plainview where he was later pronounced deceased. H e was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, Jimmy Garcia, 20, of Lubbock, did not have any injuries.
