Julian ‘Bambula’ Torres, 86, of Littlefield, TX passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Littlefield. He was born on July 4, 1939, in Hamlin, TX to Blasio and Enedina Trevino.
Julian was a lifetime Littlefield area resident. He grew up with seven siblings. At 18 years old, Julian married Mary Helen Marquez on March 12, 1957. They had nine children. In 1979, he suffered the loss of Mary Helen. He enjoyed telling stories about his work life, especially the jobs of working in cotton fields for many farmers in his young teenage years.
He worked as a foreman at Sudan Central Compress for over thirty years. Julian also took great pride in his contribution to building Loop 289 in Lubbock and the Shallowater overpass. Julian married Tommie Hernandez on June 28,1985. Their blended family consisted of Julian’s nine children and Tommie’s three children. Julian enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs play football.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife; three sons; five daughters shared with Mary Helen; two step-daughters shared with Tommie; thirty-three grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
Julian was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; a daughter and stepson; four brothers; one sister; and three grandchildren.
Mass for Julian Torres will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Church officiating. Rosary service was said Tuesday evening, March 10, 2026, at Grace Chapel.
