The Sudan High School Cross-Examination and Debate teams competed in the UIL District contest, earning Sudan’s 14th consecutive District Championship title.
The team is set to advance to the state tournament in Austin, Texas, in March. This win places Sudan in first place within the district academic race, totaling 58 points.
Bethani Magby and Caden Edens won first place.
Angelina Godwin and Alissa Montes won second place.
Piper Pool and Andrew Godwin won third place.
Kaine Carroll and Rebekah Jones won fourth place.
“Every year, it is fun to watch these young academics grow and hone their skills,” Jonathan Robertson, the team’s academic coach, said. “Like the many who have come before them in building this storied program, they will go on to become lawyers, doctors, engineers and the like. Sudan continues to field strong academic programs, and Sudan can be proud of these disciplined and focused academics.”
