Olton takes down sudan in second meeting, 57-23

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team swept the season series with Sudan on Friday, taking their second meeting, 57-23.

It was a tight game earlyon, as Olton clung to an, 119, lead in the first quarter, but they would open it up in the second frame, pouring in 17 points to take a, 2815, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Mustangs would outscore the Hornets, 18-3, in the third quarter, and, 115, in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 57-23.

Kyler Edwards led the team in scoring with eight points, to go along with eight rebounds and one assist, while Haden Provence chipped in seven points, eight rebounds, three steals one assist and one block, and Brian Delgado added six points, eight rebounds and one assist.

Aspen Reyher finished with two points, six rebounds and one assist.

For the Mustangs, Sebastian Sparkman led the way with 28 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Brady Azam tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block, and Matt Flores contributed seven points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.

Alex Green tallied five points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist, while Chris Cabrera added five points, seven rebounds and one assist.

The Hornets host Hale Center on Tuesday, while the Mustangs were at Farwell. Results were not available at press time. The Hornets will continue district play on Friday with a home game against Lockney, while the Mustangs travel to Bovina.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
