The Lamb County Leader-News’ annual football contest has come to a close, as Week 12 is in the books.
This week, we had two contestants tie for the top spot at 17-3, which were Richard Orozco and Robin Elliott.
The tie-breaker for week 11 was the combined score of the Chiefs and Broncos, which was 41 points.
Elliott guessed 45 points on the tie-breaker, edging out Richard Orozco for first place, who guessed 46 points. John Hernandez and Stevy Smith tied for third place with a mark of 16- 4, but Hernandez guessed 35 points on the tie- breaker, edging out Stevy Smith for third place, who guessed 48 points.
In the college ranks, Oklahoma pulled out the upset over Alabama, 23-21, while Georgia throttled the Longhorns, 35-10. Georgia Tech survived an upset bid against Boston College, 3634, while Notre Dame handled Pittsburgh, 37-15.
Illinois took care of Maryland, 24-6, while Ole Miss took down Florida, 34-24, and East Carolina defeated Memphis, 31-27. North Texas throttled UAB, 5324, while Texas Tech took care of UCF, 48-9, and Utah took down Baylor, 55.28.
In the NFL this week, the Dolphines edged out the Commanders in overtime, 16-13, while the Panthers took down the Falcons in overtime, 30-27. The Bills took care of the Buccaneers, 44-32, while the Texans took down the Titans, 16-13, and the Bears snuck by the Vikings, 19-17.
The Packers secured a victory over the Giants, 2720, while the Steelers handled the Bengals, 34-12, and the Jaguars blasted the Chargers, 35- 6. The Ravens rallied past the Browns, 23-16, while the Eagles took down the Lions, 16-9.
The rest of the contestant scores for week 12 are as follows: Those who finished 15-5 this week were Charlie Smith, Ed Dabrowski, JC Orozco, Jonathan Magallanes, JR Herrell, Juan Garza, Maria Pinon and Ronnie Martin. Contestants who finished 14-6 this week were, Steve Raney, Dewayne Hayes, Jan Smith, Johnny Rosemond, Lonnie Neinast, Mark Grace, Micky Orozco, Moe Castillo, Sam Castillo, Stephanie Dabrowski and Teresa Dabrowski.
Brenda Herrell, Larry Ashley and Martin Duran each finished 12-8, while Alma Castillo and Tim Walker each finished 11-9 and Jimmy Garcia and Stetson Sedberry each finished 10-10. In the overall standings, Martin takes first place with 184 total points, while Raney finishes in second place with 177 points.
Stevy Smith, Lonnie Neinast and Brenda Herrell are tied for second place with 176 points. Richard Orozco, Jr Orozco, JR Herrell, Hayes and Duran each finished with 175 points, while Rosemond finished with 174 points, and Magallanes and Jan Smith finished with 169 points. Micky Orozco finished with 165 points, while Grace and Teresa Dabrowski each finished with 164 points.
Stephanie Dabrowski finished with 163 points, while Garza finished with 162 points and Ashley rounded out the top 10 with 161 points.
