The Lamb County Leader-News’ annual football contest just wrapped up week 11 last week, leaving just one week left in this year’s contest.
This week, we had four contestants tie for the top spot with a mark of 16-4. They were: Ed Dabrowski, Stephanie Dabrowski, Teresa Dabrowski and Mark Grace.
The tie-breaker for week 11 was the combined score of the Steelers and Chargers, which was 35 points.
Grace took first place with a guess of 40 points, while Teresa Dabrowski took second place with a guess of 44 points and Stephanie Dabrowski took third place with a guess of 48 points, edging out Ed Dabrowski, who guessed 51 points.
In the high school ranks, Sudan blasted Ralls, 60-0, to close out the regular season, while New Home took down Olton, 48-30, and Amherst defeated Lazbuddie on Thursday, 567. Perryton took down Borger, 42-23, while Liberty blasted Levelland, 4910, and Randall won a lowscoring game over Canyon, 14-7.
Bushland took care of River Road, 51-10, while Seagraves handeled Sundown, 34- 16, and Crosbyton took down Lockney, 28-22.
In the college ranks, Texas A& M stayed unbeaten, taken down Missouri, 38-17, while Indiana survived an upset bid from Penn State, 27-24. Notre Dame handled Navy, 49-10, while Iowa State took down TCU, 20-17.
In the NFL this week, the Saints took down the Pan- thers, 17-7, while the Rams blasted the 49ers, 42-26, and the Patriots edged out the Buccaneers, 28-23. The Dolphins took down the Bills, 30-13, while the Jets defeated the Browns, 2720.
The rest of the contestant scores for week 10 are as follows: Those who finished 15-5 this week were Brenda Herrell, Johnny Rosemond, Richard Orozco, Steve Raney and Terrill Moorhead, while those who finished 14-6 this week were Charlie Smith, Dewayne Hayes, Jan Smith, JC Orozco, Jonathan Magallanes, JR Herrell, Larry Ashley, Lonnie Neinast, Maria Pinon, Sam Castillo and Stevy Smith.
Contestants, who went 13-7 this week were, Jimmy Garcia, Martin Duran, Micky Orozco, Robin Elliott and Tim Walker, while those who finished 12- 8 this week were Alma Castillo, Juan Garza, Moe Castillo and Ronnie Martin. John Hernandez finished 11-9 this week, and Stetson Sedberry rounded out the field going 9-11.
In the overall standings, Martin still holds the top spot with 169 points, while Brenda Herrell is in second place with 164 points and Raney and Duran are tied for third place with 163 points. Neinast is in fourth place with 162 points, while Hayes is in fifth with 161 points, and Rosemond, JC Orozco, JR Herrell and Stevy Smith are tied for sixth with 160 points.
Richard Orozco is in seventh with 158 points, while Jan Smith is in eighth with 155 points and Magallanes is in ninth with 154 points. Micky Orozco rounds out the top 10 with 151 points.
