Anton Centennial Celebration begins Friday

The Lamb County Leader-News extends great gratitude and thanks to all Anton members who graciously provided photos and leads for the centennial issue. A special thanks is dedicated to Nancy Moore, Beverly Coleman and Kerri Davis for their hard work and efforts that made the creation of this issue possible, we greatly thank you.

The Anton Centennial Celebration commences Friday, the 25th, at 5:30 p.m.

The schedule of events goes as follows: 5:30 p.m.- BBQ in the Park. 6 p.m.- High School building opens.

7 p.m.- Special High School Graduation Ceremony 7 to 9 p.m.- Reunions and memorabilia in the practice gym 7:45 p.m.- Tour of the Anton School 9:00 p.m.- Drag Main St on your own

Saturday’s events are scheduled as follows:

7:30 a.m.- 5K Run 7:30 a.m.- Vendors Set Up 8:30 a.m.- Parade Line Up 9:00 a.m.- Vendors Open Up 10:00 a.m.- Parade! 12 p.m.- 5 p.m. - Registration by Stage Noon - All Activities in the Park Begin Noon- Corn Hole Tournament Begins at 202 Main Street 2:00 p.m.- Parade Awards, Announcements & Thank You’s 8:30 p.m.- 11:00 p.m. - Street Dance 10:45 p.m.- Fireworks Show

Bands Schedule:

1:00 p.m.- Crystal River Band (Joel Gonzalez) 2:30 p.m.- The County Line Pickers (Robby Adams) 3:30 p.m.- Electric Mombo (Dustin Garrett) 5: 30 p. m.- Renegade ( Ken Matlock) 7:00 p.m.- Los Percidos (Joey Garcia) 9:00 p.m.- Caprockers (Greg Hodges) Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.

First aid will be located by the police station.

On Saturday at noon, the Anton museum will be open to the public.

The Church of Christ will host a cooling station with free water, display of Anton Families, town history and pictures.

The Anton Senior Citizens Center will host an Armed Services display, silent auction and provide snow cones and breakfast burritos. Anton Park will have bouncy houses, face painting, dunking booth, rock wall, games and educational booths. Main Street Downtown will have vendors and food trucks.

Additionally, attendees are encouraged to visit the Quanah Parker Trail Arrow and The Anton Cemetery.

Church services will commence Sunday morning:

Church of Christ - 10 a.m.. First Baptist Church - 10 a.m.; 100th Anniversary Celebration St. Anthony’s Catholic Church - 9 a.m.

Methodist Church- 9 a.m. Macedonia Church - 9:45 a.m.
