Commissioners hold special meeting Thursday

The Commissioners Court of Lamb County held a Special Meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the Lamb County Courthouse, where they took care of a five-item agenda.

The meeting was called to order at 10 a.m. by Lamb County Judge James DeLoach, who also gave the invocation.

There was nobody present for the public comment portion of the meeting.

The first order of business was to consider and take appropriate action on Funding for Lamb Healthcare Center.

“We had a mix up the other day, when Mike and Dylan came to us two weeks ago, they were asking for $750,000 for the IGT, and then some additional funding to cover bills and other things,” Judge DeLoach said. We didn’t get that extra money allocated in the paperwork, so we decided to do it this way. That is the reason for this special meeting today.”

He added, “All of this will be repaid with the IGT that is set to come in at the end of this month. The way I remember it, that was discussion that we had up here the other day. We’re not adding any new money we haven’t already approved, it was just the paperwork didn’t follow that.”

The motion to approve funding for LHC in the amount of $152,814.51, was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Kent Lewis. The motion carried.

The next order of business was to consider and approve bills presented by the County Auditors office.

They requested that the Commissioners approve bills totaling $305,629.02.

The motion to approve bills was made by Commissioner Lee Logan and seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry. The motion carried.

Future Agenda Items were discussed.

With no further business to discuss, Commissioner Lewis made a motion to adjourn and it was seconded by Commissioner Short. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 10:06 a.m.
