Brent Heffington named senior director of Xcel Energy’s Tolk and Plant X stations

Xcel Energy is pleased to announce that Brent Heffington has been named Senior Director of the company’s Tolk and Plant X generating stations, following the retirement of Randy Vann.

Heffington brings extensive experience in power generation and plant operations to his new role. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of Generation at Public Service Company of New Mexico. In his nearly 30 years at Xcel Energy, he also held several leadership roles, including Public Service Company of Colorado’s Comanche Station Plant Director, Southwestern Public Service Company’s Nichols Station Plant Manager, Manager of Technical Resources and Compliance, and Harrington Maintenance Manager. Earlier in his career at the company, he gained valuable experience as Plant Supervisor of Technical Services/ Engineer, Technical Specialist, Journeyman Mechanic, and Union Steward.

Heffington holds an Executive MBA from Washington State University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lubbock Christian University.

He succeeds Randy Vann, who is retiring after 39 years of dedicated service to Xcel Energy. Vann has served as Senior Director at Tolk and Plant X for the past 12 years and previously held key roles in operations, maintenance and engineering at Tolk and Cunningham stations.

Heffington and his wife, Melani, live in Littlefield, Texas. They have been married for more than 35 years and have one daughter who is married and currently attending the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. They enjoy camping, hiking and fishing. Heffington is also active in his community, serving at his local church, supporting the family farming operation and restoring vintage vehicles.
