The governing body of the City of Littlefield held a special meeting on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, for the purpose of considering all matters and related incidents to the City of Littlefield.
The meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. by Mayor Eric Turpen and the invocation was given by Mayor Pro- Tempore Kenny Rucker. Mayor Turpen led the Pledge of Allegiance.
There was nobody present for the public comment portion of the meeting.
Item five on the agenda was to consider and approve Canvass of the Votes of the May 3, 2025, City of Littlefield Special Election and Resolution No. 2025-0506 Canvassing the Votes and Declaring the Results of the May 3, 2025, City of Littlefield Special Election Proposition “A” To abolish the Type A economic Development sales and use tax levied by the Littlefield Economic Development Corporation for the promotion and development of new and expanded business enterprises at the rate of one-half on one percent and, concurrently, increase the Type B economic development sales and use tax levied by the Littlefield Type “B” Economic Development Corporation by a rate of one-half of one percent (for a total rate of one percent) to undertake authorized projects for the purpose of economic development, including related maintenance and operating costs, as described in Chapters 501 and 505 of the Local Government Code.
Mayor Pro-tempore Rucker made the motion to approve the Canvassing of Votes for the May 3, 2025, Special Election and Approve Resolution 2025-0506, and it was seconded by Council Member Buddy Holmes. The motion carried.
Item six on the agenda was presentation of Certificate of Election and Oath of Office for the Newly Elected Council Members.
Mayor Turpen, District three Council Member Buddy Holmes, and District four Council Member Mayor Pro- Tempore Kenny Rucker, were sworn in by Municipal Judge Irene Coronado.
Mayor Turpen declared the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
