Littlefield Police Department released a statement on their Facebook page in regards to a shots fired call.
On May 7, 2025, at approximately 10:51 p.m., officers with the Littlefield Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of East Waylon Jennings Boulevard, in response to reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers located a 35-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound. The individual was transported to Lubbock for treatment of injuries determined to be non-life-threatening.
The scene was secured and investigators responded to conduct a full inquiry. During the investigation, an adult male at the scene informed officers he was the person who discharged the firearm. Witness statements and surveillance footage corroborated his account that the shot was fired in self-defense, following an unprovoked physical assault by the injured individual – an encounter the shooter had attempted to avoid.
Currently, the investigation supports the finding of self-defense. The base will be referred to the appropriate authorities for potential filing of criminal charges against the injured party in connection with the assault.
