As followers of Jesus, we are called to make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey everything He has commanded us (Matthew 28:1920). One of the most effective ways to fulfill this Great Commission is by investing in young people. In fact, studies show that over 80% of Christians today placed their faith in Jesus before the age of 18. This is important as we navigate our mission. And here’s some really good news- a recent study showed that young people are more interested in Jesus than they’ve been in over 40 years!
Essentially, the time is now! Young people will shape the future of the church and the world. By investing in them, we can help develop the leaders who will take the gospel to the ends of the earth. They are hungry for authenticity: Young people are looking for genuine faith and authentic relationships. By investing in them, we can provide guidance, support, and mentorship that will help them develop a strong foundation of faith.
So, how can we invest in young people for Jesus? Here are a few practical ways: - Mentorship: Find a young person to mentor and disciple. Share your life, your faith, and your experiences with them.
- Teaching and Training: Teach and train young people in the ways of God and most importantly live-out your faith. Help them develop a strong foundation and a deep understanding of Scripture.
- Prayer and Support: Pray for young people and support them in their walk with God. Encourage them, listen to them, and provide guidance when needed. And here is something very practical, this weekend we will be hosting DNow weekend. This is a retreat for 6th-12th graders from all over Lamb County. Please set a reminder to pray for this weekend for all who are involved.
By investing in young people for Jesus, we can help shape the future of the church and raise up a new generation of disciples who will take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
