In Loving Memory Of Louisa Montoya

Louisa Montoya, 80, of Littlefield, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Littlefield, Texas. She was born on October 11, 1944, in Rosebud, Texas to Marcus and Sotera Rios. She married Guadalupe Montoya on April 27, 1968, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield, where they also got to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary together.

Louisa came from a large family; she was one of twelve siblings. She was the matriarch of her own family, and they were her pride and joy. She took care of her grandchildren who affectionately called her "Mami" so that her children could work. She never gave a second thought about making sacrifices for her kids and grandchildren. She was strong, unique and wise. Many came to her for advice or help, they knew that they could always depend on her. She enjoyed shopping at garage and estate sales, Sunday cruises with a strawberry shake and playing games, such as rummy. She was baptized February 25, 1945, and was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Guadalupe Montoya of Littlefield, TX; two sons, Guadalupe Montoya, Jr. of Lubbock, TX and George Allen Rios of Littlefield, TX; two daughters, Rosemary Montoya of San Marcos, TX and Bertha Birdy Montoya-Coronado and her husband, Paul Henry Coronado of Littlefield, TX; two brothers, Jose Angel, Sr. of Littlefield, TX and Carlos Rios of Littlefield, TX; two sisters, Rosa Rios of Littlefield, TX and Erlinda Silvas of Littlefield, TX; ten grandchildren, Pricilla, Raylouis, Jakob, Davin, Chace, Henry, Jr., Ethan, Emilee, Maribel and Marcus; and one great grandchild, Aracely.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield, Texas. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Prayer services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, starting at 5:30 p.m. with Pastor Billy Montes, followed by the reciting of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
