ROBERT JOEL TURNER

Robert Joel “Bobby” Turner, 74, of Olton, TX, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, in Olton, with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment followed at Olton Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Bobby was born Jan. 31, 1950 and raised in Olton by his parents Joe and Gwynne Turner. He graduated from Olton High School in 1968.

He attended college at West Texas State University and graduated in 1974. He married Barbara Cowart, on July 17, 1971. After graduation, Bobby began a career in coaching. After coaching in several small towns in the Texas Panhandle, Bobby and his family settled in Muleshoe. He was also assigned to teach a computer class. He left coaching to pursue a career in IT which he continued until his retirement. Bobby was an avid golfer, spent time on the farm and was a gifted artist. He also started learning woodworking and carpentry skills that helped in gun restoration. Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church in Olton.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his father. Bobby is survived by his wife; two daughters; four granddaughters; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; one brother; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity in Olton.
