Are We Ready To Depart? ...

Are we ready when a time in our routine ends?

I like it when students finish school, and at graduation they throw their caps up in the air. They are ready to depart.

When people reach the age of 65 and make plans to retirement. I know that sometimes people do not want to end this journey and if they have a job they ask if they can remain as part time.

What does 2nd Timothy 4:7-8 say? “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing”. Can we say the same thing? Do you remember when you had your first child, then you took him (her) to daycare, then kindergarten, then to school and he (she) graduated. Time passed then the grand children, great grand children came.

In the spiritual we decide to follow Christ, we get baptized and some were called to some position in a church.

If God calls us to his presence, are we ready to depart?

In the passage that I mentioned and especially verse 7, it tells us “finish the race”.

I remember when I came to Littlefield in 1981 to pastor the church Temple Of Adoration that in that time was named Memorial Baptist Church. Forty-four years have passed but I only pastored forty-two, since there was an interval in which another pastor was here.

Last year on December 29th I told my church: “It is time to depart”.

It has been an unforgettable experience since my three children graduated from Littlefield, my youngest Daniel was born here in this friendly town.

I say until later not good bye, I have left good friends and I know that the new level of the church, T.O.A. will be blessed by our marvelous Lord Jesus Christ.

I am thankful to Lamb County News for giving me the opportunity to share an article each month.

May the Lord bless you.
