Come join the Littlefield Community in celebrating the 2nd Annual National John D. McCarty Day!
The event will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 6 p.m. at Peace Deliverance Baptist Church, 801 LFD Drive in Littleifeld. Join us for fellowship and refreshments.
John moved to Littlefield in 1939, where he grew up and graduated from Dunbar High School. He later pursued higher education in Houston, earning his license as a mortician. Over the years, he built a thriving career, operating his own funeral home and barbershop, both of which he continues to manage to this day. In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, John serves as the pastor of Peace Deliverance Baptist Church.
In February 1960, John married Opal Mildred Clayton. Together, they have two children: Hubert Miller and Mary Browne.
Today, John maintains a vibrant routine. Six days a week, he starts his day at 6 a.m. at the gym, followed by morning coffee at McDonald’s. His schedule also includes weekly Bible study and brotherhood meetings, tending to his garden, and ministering
