Celebration of Life Services for Marjorie Gayle Pierce of Lake Kiowa, Texas were conducted at 2 pm. Monday, January 6, 2025 at Littlefield Memorial Park officiated by Brad and Brent Heffington. Marjorie went to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. She is now speaking her love and joy to her family and friends that she is reunited with there.
Marjorie was born January 3, 1942 in Littlefield, Texas to Luther and Bernice (Neis) Wood. Marjorie grew up on the family farm in Spade, Texas where she attended Spade Schools and the Spade Church of Christ. She often talked about the various activities she enjoyed with her family and friends. Marjorie especially enjoyed time spent with her sister Patsy Bradley and her cousins. This would continue throughout her life as she always looked forward to the Neis Cousin reunion in Abernathy and gatherings with Janice (Wood) and Bill Richey, Teresa Wood and Bob Wood. During high school, she was a member of the basketball team, the pep squad and FHA. After graduating from Spade High School in 1960, Marjorie attended West Texas College in Canyon, Texas before returning to work at the Lamb County Tax Assessor's office in Littlefield. She was a loyal employee until God answered her prayers and promoted her to the position of mother in 1968. In 1992, she received her most desired position of Grammy.
On June 15, 1962, Marjorie married Herbert Floyce Pierce and established their family with love and commitment that lasted 62 years on this earth and continues for eternity in her legacy of love. They raised their children, Michael and Christi in Littlefield, where they were active members of the Crescent Park Church of Christ. She taught Sunday school to many young children and served in any area she saw a need. Marjorie wanted to spread the love of God to everyone.
In addition to her love and devotion to her God, family, and friends, she was an avid Littlefield Wildcat supporter unless they were competing against the Shallowater Mustangs where her grandsons, Taylor or Truitt Pierce were playing. In April of 2021, Marjorie and Floyce relocated from their beloved Littlefield community to Lake Kiowa, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren, Ethan and Maci Johnson. She was always willing to travel any distance to see them, but enjoyed being just up the road. The Lake Kiowa community welcomed them from day one, especially her cousin Janice (Wood) and Bill Richey, who also live there. Marjorie participated in many activities in the community including the Dining Divas. She was also an active member of the Collinsville Church of Christ, who are an amazing fellowship of Christ followers. Marjorie loved her Bible Study classes and the fellow Believers she has met in her life journey.
Marjorie's passion for God's creation is unsurpassed. Her gardening skills were renowned. She never tired of watching the birds and squirrels at her homes. She adored all the family pets, but most of all she was always pouring God's love into people.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Bernice Wood; and a brother-in-law, H.W. "Butch" Bradley, one of our nation's brave veterans.
