Littlefield EMS, in cooperation with West Texas EMS Resources, will be hosting an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course in Littlefield at the EMS Station. This 273- hour course will begin with an orientation on December 30th and continue through June 9th. The course will be held every Monday and Thursday evening from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Littlefield EMS Station. There will also be two Saturdays in which students will attend a CPR certification course and participate in a large-scale extrication training exercise.
The EMT course is designed to teach students the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide entry- level emergency medical care.
After the completion of the classroom or didactic portion of the course, students are required to attend emergency room and EMS Truck field rotations/ clinicals to satisfy course requirements. Once all hours are successfully completed, the student will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT’s written examination. Successful completion of the exam is required for eligibility to apply for state licensure to practice as an Emergency Medical Technician.
