Donna Neinast wins Week 12 Football Contest, Lonnie Neinast wins overall contest

Week 12 of the Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest has come and gone, wrapping up the 2024 Football Contest.

Donna Neinast was our first place winner in the final week of the contest, finishing with a mark of 16-4.

We had two contestants tie for second place with a score of 15-5 this week, which were Charlie Smith and Lonnie Neinast.

The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of Hawai’i and Utah State, which was 65 points.

By way of tie-breaker, Lonnie Neinast took second place with a guess of 55 points and Charlie Smith took third place with a guess of 36 points.

In the College ranks, Florida upset LSU in the Swamp, 27-16, while Oregon survived a scare from unranked Wisconsin, 16-13, and Clemson survived on the road against Pittsburgh, 24-20. Texas defeated Arkansas on the road, 2010, and Notre Dame blasted Virginia in South Bend, 35-14.

Boise State ran away from San Jose State in the second half, 4221, while Air Force shutout Oregon State, 28-0, and Temple edged out Florida Atlantic, 18-15. Georgia pulled an upset over Tennessee, 31-17.

In the NFL, the Packers snuck by the Bears, 20-19, while the Vikings took down the Titans, 2313, and the Lions dismantled the Jaguars, 52-6. The Seahawks edged out the 49ers, 20-17, while the Bills won their match-up over the Chiefs, 30-21, and the Colts edged out the Jets, 28-27.

The Chargers survived a furious comeback bid from the Bengals, 34-27, while the Steelers defeated the division rival Ravens, 18-16, and the Dolphins handled the Raiders, 34-19. the Broncos blasted the Falcons in Atlanta, 386.

Those who finished 14-6 this week were Alma Castillo, Juan Garza, David Neinast, Ed Dabrowski, Micky Orozco, Nancy Smith, Ronnie Martin, Teresa Dabrowski and Tommy Cloninger. Finishing 13-7 this week were Dewayne Hayes, Mark Grace, Richard Orozco, Robin Elliott and Terrill Moorhead, and those who finished 12-8 this week were Brenda Herrell, JC Orozco, Johnny Rosemond, Larry Ashley, Martin Duran, and Sam Castillo.

Rounding out the field this week was JR Herrell and Stevy Smith, who each finished 11-9.

In the overall standings, Lonnie Neinast held on to the top spot to win the season contest with 185 points, while Brenda Herrell took second place with 175 points and Donna Neinast finished third with 174 points. David Neinast finished fourth with 173 points, while Duran finished fifth with 172 points, and JR Herrell finished sixth with 171 points.

Richard Orozco and Rosemond each finished with 170 points, which was good for seventh, while Martin finished in eighth with 168 points and Stevy Smith finished ninth with 167 points. Micky Orozco and Tommy Cloninger rounded out the top 10, each with 166 points.
