We had a total of 4,175 voters,” Lamb County Clerk Rene Trevino. “Out of that 152 Absentee ballots, which we had mailed out 165 and 13 of those were rejected from the Ballot Board. She added, “By our results we think we are off three. We think they walked out with them and we tried to call people to try and find them, but we could not find them.”
Judge DeLoach chimed in, stating, “That is pretty consistent with what we have seen at every election since we’ve been using the machines.
Tammy Kirkland also stated, “This was a crazy election, I was over there standing by the machine making sure people were putting them in right.”
Trevino added, “A lot of people were asking about receipts, so we’re assuming people thought it was a receipt and walked out with them. We actually ran and caught two of them and had them bring them back in.”
Judge DeLoach suggested putting up a sign on each machine stating “Do Not Leave With Your Ballot.”
The motion was made by Comder missioner Kent Lewis and seconded by Commissioner Danny Short to approve the canvassing of the General Election as presented. The motion carried.
With no further business to discuss, the motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Short and seconded by Commissioner Lewis. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 9:17 a.m.
