Lonnie Neinast wins Week 3 of Football Contest

Week three’s slate of games for the Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest proved to be a problem for contestants this week, with our Week three winner coming in with a score of 14-6.

We had three contestants tie for first place with a mark of 14-6, including, Lonnie Neinast, Brenda Herrell and Martin Duran.

The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of the Giants vs Commanders, which was 39 points. Taking first place by way of tiebreaker this week was Lonnie Neinast, who guessed 40 points. Taking second place, also by way of tie-breaker, was Martin Duran, who guessed 45 points, and taking third place with a guess of 46 points, was Brenda Herrell.

In the High School Ranks, Littlefield went on the road against Abernathy and nearly pulled off a second-half stunner, before falling to the Antelopes, 26-22. Olton lost a tough game to Texico, N.M., 1813, while Ropes shutout Sudan,420. Petersburg pulled a huge upset over Springlake-Earth, 45-30, while KPA took down Anton, 76-48.

Childress pulled out their contest on the road over Frederick, 20-14, while Tulia captured a victory over Sanford-Fritch, 33-13. Bovina took down Dimmitt, 24-16, while Lake view won a shootout over Lamesa, 55-42.

In the college ranks, Alabama went on the road and took down Wisconsin, 42-10, while the A&M Aggies went into the Swamp and took down the Gators, 33-20. Oregon defeated Oregon State, 49-14, while Colorado handled Colorado State, 28-9, and Baylor blasted Air Force, 31-3.

In the NFL, The Saints dismantled the Cowboys at “Jerry’s World”, 49-14, while the Buccaneers took down the Lions, 20-16, and the Jets defeated the Titans, 24-17. The Vikings pulled off an upset over the 49’ers, 23-17, and the Seahawks edged out the Patriots, 23-20.

Those, who finished 13-7 this week were JR Herrell and Micky Orozco, while contestants, who went 12-8 this week were David Neinast, Dewayne Hayes, Ivan Estrada, Johnny Rosemond, Larry Ashley, Richard Orozco, Ronnie Martin and Nancy Smith. Those who went 11-9 this week were, Jan Smith, Charlie Smith, Donna Neinast and JC Orozco, while 10-10 finishers this week were Alma Castillo, Maria Pinon, Stevy Smith, Terrill Moorhead and Tommy Cloninger.

Jazmine Davis, Mark Grace and Robin Elliott each went 9-11 this week, while Ed Dabrowski and Sam Castillo each finished 8-12 and Juan Garza and Teresa Dabrowski each finished 7-13. James Hood finished 6-14 this week.

In the overall standings, Estrada jumped into the top spot with 41 points, followed closely in second place by Brenda Herrell, Martin Duran and Stevy Smith, who each have 40 points. In third place with 39 points are Lonnie Neinast, and Jan Smith is in fourth place with 38 points. Micky Orozco, Richard Orozco and Martin, while JR Herrell, Rosemond, Donna Neinast, JC Orozco and Alma Castillo, who are tied for fifth place with 37 points.

David Neinast, Nancy Smith and Elliott are tied for sixth with 36 points, while those in seventh place with 35 points are Hayes, Ashley and Moorhead, and Cloninger is in eighth place with 34 points. Tied for ninth are Davis, Grace and Garza with 33 points, while Sam Castillo rounds out the top 10 with 32 points.
