A two-vehicle collision took place on Thursday, Sept. 12th at 8:40 a.m. on US Highway 70 at mile marker 288, near the Hale and Lamb County Line, leaving one person deceased.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Mazda CX5 was traveling west on US Highway 70 near mile marker 288 in Hale County. A 2022 International Truck Tractor was towing a trailer and was traveling east on US-70, approaching the same location. The Mazda CX5 drove into the eastbound lanes into the path of the Truck Tractor.
The Truck Tractor attempted to avoid a collision with the Mazda CX5, but both vehicles collided in the roadway. The driver of the Mazda CX5, Kathleen Ruth Dossey, 76, of Olton, was pronounced deceased due to the injuries sustained during the crash. The driver of the Truck Tractor, Darko Festin, 66, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was treated and released on scene.
