The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team took down the New Deal Lady Lions on Tuesday on the road, 10-2, in their first meeting of the season.
With the win, the Nettes’ improve to 6-6 overall, 4-1 in district play.
It was a defensive battle though the first three innings with neither team able to scratch a run across. However, the Nettes were able to score three runs in the fourth, fith and six innings and one run in the seventh, while New Deal mustered a run in the fourth innning and another run in the sixth inning.
Senior, Blessy Montes, threw a complete game for the Nettes, throwing 6.2 innings, giving up five hits, three walks and two runs, 0 earned, while earning five strikeouts.
At the plate the Nettes totaled 11 hits and four walks as a team, led by Daniella Ramirez, who finished with three hits, including a triple, two RBI’s and one walk.
Laynee Jennings tallied two hits including a double, one walk and one RBI, while Erica Herrera chipped in one hit for a double and an RBI and Lexi Jennings also had a double and an RBI.
Montes added one hit and one RBI, while Angie Thorn contributed one hit and one walk and Haylee Toscano finished with one hit.
The Nettes hosted New Deal on Saturday for their second meeting of district play. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a home game against Floydada.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
