Nettes run-rule Lady Horns, 19-2, in Sudan

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team won a short game over the Lockney Lady Horns on Saturday in Sudan, 19-2.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 5-6 overall, 3-1 in district play.

Sudan jumped out to, 3-1, lead in the first inning, before erupting in the bottom half of the second inning for 16 runs, making the scor, 19-2. The Nettes blanked the Lady Horns in the top of the third to close out the contest.

Senior, Blessy Montes, pitched a complete game in the circle for Sudan, throwin three innings, giving up two hits, one walk and two runs, 0 earned, while earning five strikeouts.

At the plate, the Nettes totaled seven hits, led by Dani Ramirez, who finished the day with three RBI’s, one hit for a triple and two walks.

Kalissa Harris had two RBI’s, one walk and a homerun in the contest, while Lexi Jennings chipped in two RBI’s and one hit and Haylee Toscano contributed three hits including a triple and one walk.Angie Thorn tallied one RbI and one walk, while Montes and Laynee Jennings each finished with two walks in the contest.

The Nettes were at New Deal on Tuesday for a district contest with the Lady Lions. Results were not available at press time. They will host New Deal on Saturday as district play continues.

First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
