The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team finished as the tournament runner-ups at the 2023 Farwell Invitational this past weekend, falling to the host team Lady Blue, 57-28, in the Championship game on Saturday.
Against Farwell, the Lady Cats were led by Kennadi Hanlin, who tallied seven points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal, while Amiah Elizondo chipped in five points, seven rebounds, two asssits and one steal, and Cali Saldana contributed five points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.
Arianna Cruz added four points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Ari Castillo contributed four points, 11 rebounds, one block and one steal and Marysa Saenz finished with three points and two steals.
The Lady Cats won their second round match-up on Friday against Portales, 54-48.
They were led in this game by Castillo, who finished with 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Hanlin joined her in doublefigures scoring with 14 points, five rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block, while Cruz contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal.
Saenz tallied eight points and nine rebounds, while Elizondo chipped in two points, two steals, one rebound and one assist and Saldana added two points. Jazmine Rosalez added three rebounds, one assist and one steal, while Danica Jouett finished with one rebound and one assist.
The Lady Cats were at Denver City on Tuesday to begin district play. Results were not available at press time. They will continue district play on Friday with a home game against Dimmitt.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
