Victoria Marie Royal was born in Littlefield, Texas in 1996 to Michael Sierra and Lori Thompson Zinn. She attended school in Littlefield until her junior year in 2014. In June 2015, she graduated from West Side High in Jacksonville, Florida; 10 days later, Victoria was on a bus to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina where she was assigned to 4th Battalion, Platoon 4030. After completing 13 weeks of MC Recruit Training, she graduated at the rank of Private First Class.
In October 2015, she reported to Marine Combat Training in Camp Geiger, North Carolina and transferred to Camp Johnson, North Carolina for completion of Personnel Administration School for her military occupation specialty training.
In January 2016, Lance Corporal Royal was assigned to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
In November 2018, Corporal Royal received assignment to Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East, where she served as the Administrative Chief.
In June 2020, Sergeant Royal transferred to Inspector-Instructor duty, Site-Support, Detachment 3, Supply Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 451, Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, South Carolina.
After her third enlistment, she received assignment where she currently serves, at U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command, G-1, Adjutant Branch.
Her personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (2), and the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal.
She has been supported along this journey by her husband, Corporal Steven Alexander Royal (USMC Veteran), daughters Ja’el Sophia Royal (11), Aiyana Lorraine Royal (5), and Zarah Gail Royal (4), and son, Steven Alexander Royal II (11 months).
In November 2023, she was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. The pinning ceremony took place on Friday, November 3, 2023, at MacDill Air Force Base where family from Texas and Florida were in attendance. Her husband, father, mother, and sister- in- law, Stephanie Royal, all participated in the ceremony. Her husband Corporal Steven Royal (USMC Veteran) and Father, Rick Zinn (USMC Veteran) pinned on the new Staff Sergeant insignias.
This promotion is a testament to Staff Sergeant Royal’s commitment to excellence, mastery of duties and skills, and exemplary leadership capabilities; it is a signpost in what she hopes will be a long and continuingly successful career in the United States Marine Corps.
