Faces of Cotton: Fred’s Legacy

Plains Cotton Growers His name was Ferdinand Valentine Kveton, but everybody called him Fred. Born in Moravia, Czech Republic, 12-year-old Fred followed his older sister to America in 1908, settling near San Angelo. He would go on to fight in World War I, earning his U.S. citizenship.

Lamb Co. Constitutional Amendment Special Election voting schedule

An Election is hereby ordered to be held on Nov.7, 2023, in LAMB County, Texas, for the purpose of voting in a Special Election to adopt or reject the proposed Constitutional Amendments as submitted by the 88th Legislature, Regular Session and a Second Special Session of the State of Texas.

Early voting now underway Early voting is now underway for the Nov. 7 general election. Voters will decide the fate of 14 proposed amendments, including measures to provide property tax relief and raise the homestead exemption to $100,000.

Commissioners to hold special meeting Friday

A special meeting of the Lamb County Commissioners’ Court will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, in the Lamb County Courthouse, where a 5 – item agenda will be considered for appropriate action.

ANNUAL PUMPKIN TRAIL -- The Gingerbread House Daycare brought along a very tall, very talkative, and very friendly Scarecrow to welcome guests to the photo booth at the Pumpkin Trail held Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Crescent Park. Oh, my! Look again, perhaps the Scarecrow is not so friendly after all?

Trick-or-Treat at Arbor Grace

Arbor Grace Wellness Center is asking for candy donations, so their residents can treat the treaters. Please have the donations turned in by Oct. 23rd. Trick-ortreaters can come by to get candy on Oct. 31st starting at 6:30 p.m.
