A drive to make U.S. a leader in organic cotton

Demand is growing for organic cotton in the U.S., but imports continue to pick up the slack of inadequate domestic production. A new project led by Texas A&M AgriLife Research aims to turn the situation around by identifying the challenges to and opportunities for U.S. organic cotton growers.

Texas State Support Holds 2023 Project Review

Cotton researchers and cotton producer members of the Texas State Support Committee gathered in Lubbock November 28-29 to review preliminary research results for projects conducted during the 2023 growing season.

Library Gingerbread Contest registration deadline is Dec. 13th

The Lamb County Library’s annual Gingerbread House Contest is open for registration. The age groups are: 5-8-year olds; 9-12-year olds; 13-17-year olds and 18-years and up. The deadline to register will be Dec. 13th. Winners will be announced during their annual open house on Dec.

Lfd. Elem. releases 2nd Six Weeks Honor Rolls

The Littlefield Elementary School has released the honor rolls for the second six weeks of the 2023-2024 school year. “A” HONOR ROLL Third Grade: Isabella Bolanos, Lindley Thomas and Jazlynn Torres, Layla Trevino-Gonzales and Braelynn Winters.

Olton annual Hometown Christmas set for Dec. 9

Olton’s annual Hometown Christmas Celebration will take place on Dec. 9th from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pavilion on Main Street. There will be Vendors and Food Trucks from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Joe’s Jingle Jog will be at 2 p.m. and the Gingerbread Decorating Contest will be at 3:30 p.m.

Lamb County Primary filing deadline is Monday

Lamb County Elections Administrator, Tonya Ritchie, has issued a reminder for residents of Lamb County that filing for the 2024 party primaries is open and several offices will appear on the ballot for March 5, 2024.
