The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity baseball team competed in Wichita Falls this past weekend at a Tournament, where they went 4-1 in five games.
They improve to 7-3 overall on the year.
In their first game of the tournament, the Wildcats took down the Seymour Panthers in four innings, 26-0.
Ian Mendez started the game on the mound for the Wildcats, pitching two innings, earning four strikeouts, while Sean Ybarra also pitched two innings, giving up one hit, while striking out two.
At the plate for the Wildcats, Chip Green tallied five RBI’s, three hits including a double and one walk, while Major McNeese recorded two hits including a double, four RBI’s and two walks, and Gabriel Villanueva chipped in four RBI’s, one hit and one walk.
Bradyn Redman added two hits including a double, one walk and three RBI’s, while Adam MacDonald chipped in two hits including a double and two RBI’s, and Dawson Adkins finished with two RBI’s, two walks and one hit. Jakob Kirkland also tallied three hits, two walks and two RBI’s.
In game two of their tournament, the Wildcats shutout Wichita Falls Memorial’s JV, 11-0, giving up just three hits in the contest.
At the plate, the Wildcats totaled 10 hits as a team, led by Green, who finished with two hits, two RBI’s and scored three times. Adkins, Villanueva and McNeese each recorded a double and an RBI, while Jakob Kirkland and MacDonald, also each accounted for an RBI.
Mendez started on the bump for the Wildcats, pitching three innings, giving up two hits, while striking out three. Villanueva pitched the final two innings, giving up one hit, while striking out five.
In their first game on Friday, the Wildcats edged out the City View Mustangs, 8-7.
Green started the game on the mound for the Wildcats, going three innings, giving up seven hits, four walks and seven runs, three earned, while striking out two. Gabe Mata pitched two innings for the Wildcats, and McNeese closed out the final inning, earning two strikeouts.
At the plate, McNeese led the way recording a double, a homerun, a walk and three RBI’s. Redman recorded a walk and an RBI, while Jakob Kirkland added one RBI, and CJ Weaver tallied one hit and one RBI. Green chipped in two hits, while Adkins, Jayden Kirkland and Mendez each finished with a hit as well.
In their fourth game of the tournament on Friday, the Wildcats shutout Jacksboro, 10- 0, as McNeese and Green combined for a one-hitter.
McNeese started on the mound for the Wildcats, pitching 5.2 innings, giving up one hit and two walks, while striking out eight batters. Green pitched 0.1 innings, earning one strikeout.
At the plate, Adkins finished with a walk and a double, while Jakob Kirkland tallied two hits including a double and two RBI’s. Mendez contributed three hits and three RBI’s, while Redman and Green each accounted for an RBI as well.
The Wildcats dropped their final game of the weekend on Saturday to Peaster, 2-1.
Villanueva started the game on the mound for the Wildcats going four innings, giving up two hits, two walks, and one run, while striking out five. Redman pitched one inning giving up one hit and one run.
At the plate, MacDonald finished with a double and an RBI, while McNeese added a hit and Villauneva recorded a hit and a walk in the contest. Jakob Kirkland, Green, and Mendez each had a walk in the contest as well.
The Wildcats will be back in action at home this weekend for their tournament. They will open play on Thursday at 2 p.m. against San Jacinto. They will also play New Deal at 7 p.m. on Thursday; Ropes on Friday at 7 p.m. and Floydada on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
