Loco’s Restaurant and the City of Littlefield hosted a program for the promotion of small businesses presented by representatives of Texas Tech University’s Northwest Texas Rural Business Opportunity Program and the Small Busi-ness Development Center on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

The Northwest Texas Rural Business Opportunity Program is made possible by a United States Department of Agriculture Rural Opportunity Grant and in cooperation with the Northwest Texas Business Resource Center at Texas Tech University. The program serves Parmer, Castro, Bailey and Lamb Counties. The purpose of the program is to offer business development counseling, industry research, and workshops at no cost for current business owners and persons hoping to start up new businesses which, in turn, stimulates the economy and jobs in small rural communities.

Business Field Advisor for the RBOP, Brandy Reed presented an overview of the services and training programs available. The Training Programs Offered include: For Starting a New Business: Start-Up Assistance, Industry Research, Business Plan, Financing/ Capital, Tax Planning and Legal Issues(such as should one incorporate) For Managing a Business: Business Accounting/Budget, Cash Flow Management, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Employee Training, Marketing/ sales, Social Media/E-Commerce, Cyber Security, Technology/Computers, and Disaster Planning.

For Expanding a Business: Government Contracting (including Certification), International Trade, Franchising, and Buying or Selling a Business.
