Sudan High School UIL students competed in the Region I Academic Meet on April 24, 2026, at West Texas A&M University.
After competing, the team placed second overall, earning sweepstakes.
Six students will advance to the state competition in Austin, happening May 18 and 19.
The Number Sense team won first place. Individually, Caden Edens won first place, and Kye Polk won second place. Other team members included Andres Melendez and Jeffrey Neufeld.
The Computer Science team won second place and the state wildcard. Individually, Caden Edens won first place, and Andres Melendez was fifth. Other team members included Bethany Magby and Kye Polk.
Phillip Jones won 3rd place in Poetry.
Students who placed but did not qualify for state included the third-place Current Issues and Events team: Athan Burnett, Britton Bass, Bethany Magby and Jack Vandergraff; and the thirdplace Math team: Caden Edens, Kye Polk, Andres Melendez and Lexi Jennings.
